Mariano Rodriguez Tinoco, known to his family as “Gordo,” passed away peacefully on September 17th, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born on November 22, 1985, in Bakersfield, California. Born to Mariano A. Tinoco and the late Ofilia R. Tinoco.

Mariano R. Tinoco passed away far too soon following a courageous illness, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to family, true friendship, and dedicated hard work. Known for being exceptionally authentic and genuine, Mariano faced long-standing health challenges, including a lifelong battle with Type 1 Diabetes, navigating years of dialysis, and a kidney and pancreas transplant with incredible resilience and strength. Never letting those struggles diminish his spirit or his deep love for those around him. Mariano was the kind of friend you could always count on. He was honest, hilariously witty, and unapologetically stubborn, and almost always right—or at least, you could never convince him otherwise.

Throughout his career, Mariano demonstrated a strong work ethic and versatility. He devoted over a decade of service to Anthony Vineyards working as a Shipping Clerk before advancing to Accounting Assistant and Payroll. Most recently, he shared his knowledge helping others as an Income Tax Preparer with Jackson Hewitt. A proud graduate of Arvin High School. He briefly attended Santa Barbara Business College and then continued his commitment to personal growth through his studies at the University of Phoenix, where he made the Dean’s list.

Beyond his work, Mariano had a passion for the simple joys in life. He loved his Ford Mustang, he enjoyed going for a drive and taking the scenic route. He was an avid fan of the Dodgers and Chargers. Growing up he loved WWE and practiced wrestling moves on his siblings, nieces and nephews. He had a love for music, especially Rock music and enjoyed going to concerts with his friends. Mariano truly appreciated a great meal, especially a good steak. He cherished going to family dinners on Sundays and family events. He also had a deep love for the family dogs, Maverick and Stella.

Mariano was lovingly welcomed home by his Mother, Ofilia R. Tinoco.

He is survived by his loving Father, Mariano A. Tinoco; his siblings Ana, Jose and Jacky; his nephews, Freddy and Devin; his nieces Maritza, Mariah, and Allison; his Grandparents, Federico and Arcelia Tinoco. He also leaves behind his great-nieces Catalina and Audrey; great-nephews Aiden and Matthew, as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends who will miss his genuine soul deeply.
