Obituary for Kathy Moretti 🤍🕊️
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our beloved, Kathy Lynn Moretti, passed away June 11, 2023 at the age of 65. She left this world holding hands with her loving husband Mike and her sister Nancy at Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield, California after a sudden diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
She was born to the late Harry and Miriam Waldorf on December 17, 1965 in Pomona, California. She was the sister of Gary, Walt, Lorrie, and Nancy. Growing up, she developed a love for the outdoors and physical fitness. Later in life, she would proudly display her athletic abilities by competing in many triathlons, marathons, and hiking to the peak of Half Dome and Mount Whitney.
After graduating from Julian High School, Kathy continued her education at Citrus College and Cal Poly Pomona where she received her Bachelors Degree and her Masters Degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in adaptive P.E. Throughout her career as a professor at Bakersfield College, she helped many students with physical disabilities participate in physical education until her retirement in 2014.
She was married to the love of her life and her high school sweetheart, Michael Moretti for nearly 45 years. Together they had 3 wonderful children, Gregory, Kevin, and Mitchell. Kathy shared her love of the outdoors with her kids, often taking them on camping trips throughout the U.S. where they would hike, fish, and enjoy all that nature had to offer as a family. She would eventually purchase her dream cabin in Big Bear Lake, California.
Kathy was a proud "Grammy" to 9 grandchildren which she loved dearly: Ryan, Carson, Jackson, Eden, Emery, Jacob, Clayton, Lyla, and Luke. She was also the proud mother-in-law to Crystal, Amanda, and Angela. She always provided a warm and loving home where her family often gathered and made many memories together.
She was a loving and caring person, devoted to her family and friends. Always thinking of others first, Kathy will be deeply missed by so many people who had the pleasure of having her in their life. To know her, was to love her and we look forward to remembering a beautiful life. All are welcome to attend a celebration of life in loving memory of Kathy on Sunday August 6, 2023 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm at Monarch Memorial (2801 F Street in Bakersfield, California).
