Obituary

Ray, born in Fairhaven, MA to John & Alice Monize, was 81 when he passed into his Eternal Rest after a short illness at Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield,CA. He blazed a trail from coast to coast making his dreams come true as a disc jockey, program director, doing radio & TV ads, and playing records for hops. He loved radio and playing rock music; making a name for himself with his high energy & volume broadcasts. He was a Navy Veteran, served on the USS Essex (CVS-9), and cruised with the Navy thru the North Atlantic & Caribbean. He & the Essex were off Cuba during the Blockade & Missile Crisis. After returning home, he met his first wife Linda, later welcoming their son Scott. His old boss brought Ray out here for radio advertising. When his boss left, Ray stayed & worked at Sears 13 years, where he met his second wife, Diana. They were married for 23yrs. Leaving Sears for Lowe's Hardware, his good friend Ray introduced him to The Lord. Ray & Diana were baptized at Central Baptist Church, then went to North Heights Baptist Church. They worked there cleaning the buildings. He is survived by his second wife Diana, son Scott & Deidre, grandkids Yvonne & Logan. East Coast friends: Linda, Chrissy, Dot, McVie, Kristie, Geno, & Doug. And West Coast family & friends: Madeline, Allen, Teresa & Tim, Karen & Donny, Zindy, and his nieces & nephews. He's proceeded in death by his Dad & Mom, grandparents, aunts & uncles, cousins, father-in-law Stanley, and numerous friends. Many thanks to the entire staff at Memorial Hospital who took loving care of Ray. And to ALL of our church family at Central Baptist & North Heights Baptist Churches.
