Joe Angel
Saldana
October 2, 1935 – March 7, 2026
Joe Saldana was born in Texas and later moved to Bakersfield with his parents and eight siblings. In 1955, he married the love of his life, Mary "Cruzie" Saldana, and together they built a beautiful family while raising three children: Joe Saldana (Deltima), Richard Saldana, and Ilene Padilla (Miguel). Over the years, their family blossomed with seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Joe is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary.
To some, Joe was a man always on the go, a quiet soul of few words. But to those who knew him best, he was so much more, strong and hard working. Joe always found a way to share a story of the past. He found joy in the simple things: being outdoors, woodworking, and tending to his garden. When he wasn't tinkering in the backyard, you'd find him at his favorite spot, "Wavy's".
Above all, Joe instilled in us a profound work ethic and the enduring values of family; lessons that will guide us forever. One thing I will miss most is his infectious laugh and that stubborn streak, his unyielding need to be right, even when we knew otherwise. There was no reasoning with him, but that's what made him uniquely ours.
Grandpa, you will be missed more than words can express, but we take comfort knowing you're in a better place, reunited with Grandma at last. I can already hear her calling out, "Hombre," with that loving smile as she sees you.
Until we meet again, your stories, your laughter, and the love you gave us will live on in our hearts forever.
