Herman Gray was born in Bakersfield, Ca on December 2, 1946 to Luther and Elreathe Gray, both parents preceded in death. Herman attended the local schools in Bakersfield and graduated from Bakersfield High School. Herman was very active in sports. While in high school he was the fastest track runner during that time.

About 10 years ago he accepted Christ into his life, Herman was a faithful member at Open Door Church of God in Christ. Where Pastor Emeritus Curtis H. Richardson is the pastor.

Herman loved his family very much. He also loved working, dancing, singing, listening to oldies, playing domino's and loved traveling to Oklahoma to visit all of his cousins.

Herman leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, David and Kevin Gray. Three siblings, Margie AnnGray Johnson, CoraAnn Gray and Erline Demetrius Gray. Grandchildren, Desmond Glinton (deceased), Lisa Hester, Iesha and Alexis Amos, Nicole, Kevinesha, Kevin Davondra, Jaycynda, Isaiah and Mariah Gray. 14 great grandchildren. A very dear cousin in Oklahoma, LaRue. A host of nephews and nieces, cousins and friends.

Herman is proceeded in death by his mother, Elretha Gray, father Luther W. Gray Sr., brother David Gray, sister Doristien Gray, Luther W. Gray Jr., All grandparents on both sides of the family. Nephew Sherman Gray, cousin Lee Perry of Oklahoma, and a special bestfriend and honorary brother of over 60 years La'Rue.
