Resendez
May 15, 1952 – September 23, 2023
Graciela Ruiz Resendez was born in Juarez, Mexico on May 15, 1952 to Anastacia Reyna & Domingo P. Ruiz. She grew up in Bakersfield, California and attended the local schools. Gracie proudly graduated from Bakersfield High School class of 1970 and often liked to state her class motto, "Once a Driller, always a Driller."
During the year of 1972, Gracie, her siblings and parents moved to Arvin, California where she worked as a farm laborer, in the food industry and most importantly as a homemaker. Gracie devoted her life to her family as they meant everything to her. She loved unconditionally and spread joy to all those around her. She always enjoyed being present at all family events and celebrations, where she would sing, dance, and live life.
Gracie passed away peacefully in her home in Arvin, on September 23, 2023 surrounded by her family and friends after battling cancer. Gracie is preceded in death by her mother, father, sister Anita, and big brother Domingo Ruiz. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Oscar V. Resendez, her children, their spouses; Rosalea and Jose Garcia, Raul Castro and Debra Ramirez, Gabriel and Jessica Castro, Oscar Resendez Jr. and Crystal Miles and Angelica Resendez. Her grandchildren: Alyssa, Natalie, Noemi and Alina Garcia, David, Jasmin, Nicolas, Lynette, Adrienne & Angel Castro, Gabriel & Joseph Castro, and great granddaughter Aleiah Flores. Her brothers, Roberto, Andres, Juan and Arturo and sisters Maria Elena, Ana Maria, Candelaria and Eva Angelina and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gracie will always be remembered as loving, giving, joyful, a woman of faith, a fighter, full of life, quick in wit, humor and laughter. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
Until we meet again in the promise of heaven.
