Esperanza Mojarra Guzman, 86 of Ivanhoe, CA passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 1, 1940 in Tuxpan, Nayarit to

Bartolo Mojarra and Adela Bermudez, Esperanza moved to Delano, CA at a very young age with her family.

As a young lady, with her grandmother and brother Rudy Montoya, she followed the agricultural season of harvesting from Northern California through the Imperial Valley as well as Arizona.

While living in Earlimart, CA, Esperanza met and married the love of her life Nicasio Jasso Guzmán on September 12, 1966. Together, they built a home and had five children.

Devoted to her family, Esperanza stayed home to care for her children. She got out of her comfort zone in hopes of furthering her children’s education and became involved in the Migrant Education Program. After some time of being involved in the Program, Esperanza represented the Tulare County area as a Regional President traveling throughout the State of California alongside her husband seeking opportunities for migrant students and families by attending conferences and meetings.

She volunteered at the food pantry, helping organize and distribute to the community. She learned how to can fruit and vegetables and would give them to whoever was in need. She also gave vegetables that her husband grew in his garden. She enjoyed sharing extra food that she had available with others.

As a member of the Earlimart Apostolic Church, she became involved in raising funds by making tamales with the Dorcas women’s auxiliary branch. This took time and dedication, yet it was a great opportunity to teach her children about work ethic, dedication and the fruit of that labor.

In 1994, Esperanza and her family relocated to Ivanhoe, CA. She found great joy spending time with her family and loving them with everything she had.

She loved going to Morro Bay with her family, crocheting, embroidery, sewing, cooking, canning, word search, playing cards, flowers and gardening, seeing hummingbirds in her garden, and Jesus.

Esperanza was humble, loving, kind, and sweet. She always made sure to tell everyone that she loved them and expressed her gratitude to all even the nursing staff during her hospital stays. Her gentle guidance, warm hugs, and wise words will forever remain in our hearts.

She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Nicasio (“Nick”) Guzman, Jr.; her parents, Bartolo Mojarra and Adela Bermudez; her grandmother, Concepcion Ramirez; and her siblings, Santiago Mojarra, Espiririon Mojarra, Salvador Mojarra, and Maria Concepcion Ramirez.

She is survived by her loving husband, Nicasio Jasso Guzman; her daughter, Julie Guzman Galindo (Mike Galindo); her sons, Ruben Guzman, Carlos Guzman, and Misael Guzman; her grandchildren, Andrew Galindo, Alexandra Guzman-Romero, Adela Guzman Montes, Danielle Duarte, Brisa Ramos, Nicholas Guzman, and Abigail Guzman; her great-grandchildren, Audree Romero, Everly Romero, Eli Romero, Atlas Montes, Alora Montes, and Andrew L. Galindo, Jr.; her siblings, Rudy Montoya and Consuelo Puente; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her deeply and honor her memory always.
