Doreen La Verne Dye, born in Bakersfield, California, in 1951, passed away on October 14, 2025. After a lengthy stay in the hospital Patience fulfilled her promise to bring her home when the time came so she could be surrounded by family, friends, and her cats.
She was the beloved daughter of Dorothy Mae Luttrall and Robert A. Watkins. Doreen shared her life and heart with her devoted husband, of 40 years, Rodney Eugene Dye, and together they built a bond that was unbreakable.
Doreen is survived by her son Jeffrey Hill and wife Diane Hill, stepdaughter Patience Dye, and two grandsons, Joshua Hill and Dylan Ledbetter, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, which are too many to name.
Doreen was A graduate of South High School, Class of 1969. After Rod and Doreen married, in 1980, she worked as courtesy clerk at Vons for many years until her and Rod became the proud owners of a bar they named, "The Lode" in Wofford Heights. Ca. Doreen was a member of the Republican Committee, where she was an avid Trump supporter to the end.
Doreen will be remembered as a strong-willed woman who didn't shy away from hard work or hard truths, yet she made lifelong friends that were there until the end. Doreen will be missed and not forgotten.
