September 20, 1965 – July 6, 2025

Dale Allen Mattingly Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away on July 6, 2025, in Sonora, California, at the age of 59. Born on September 20, 1965, in Leonardtown, Maryland, Dale lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love for his family.

After graduating from Leonardtown High School in 1983, Dale proudly served in the United States Army from 1984 to 1990. His commitment to duty and country was matched only by his unwavering devotion to his family and his Catholic faith.

Dale had a deep passion for softball, auto racing, and soccer (fútbol). He loved to travel and cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His sense of humor, strong spirit, and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mildred Xiomara Mattingly; his children, Dale Allen Mattingly Jr., Stephen Allen Mattingly, Christopher Saul Mendoza, Angel Mendoza, and Jocelyn Maria Mendoza; his cherished grandchildren, Troy Nigel Mattingly and Chanya Danielle Mattingly; his parents, Robert Allen Mattingly and Sharon Lee Mattingly; his siblings Brenda Bauer (Gregory Bauer), Kristine Mattingly (James Koehl), Terry Francis Mattingly, Ricky Allen Mattingly, extended family including brothers-in-law Luis Alecio, Josue Alecio and sisters-in-law Terri-Lynn Chaplin, Claudia Alecio, and Laura Alecio; Daughter in-laws Kariana M. Mattingly and Christina Mattingly. He also leaves behind many, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Dale is preceded in death by his brother, Troy Daryl Mattingly and grandparents, Herbert and Dorothy Nordstrom and William Jennings and Hilda Mattingly.

A memorial service will be held in his honor at Monarch Memorial 2801 F Street, Bakersfield, CA 93301 on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This service will also be available on Live Stream at https://youtube.com/live/bYZkZW6tfpI

There will also be an additional memorial service held at St. Francis Xavier Church in Compton, Maryland at a later date for those on the East coast.

Dale was a beloved husband, father, friend, and coworker who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter, and service will live on in the hearts of many.
